HOMER Tutorial

HOMER is the online catalog shared by the libraries on the University Park Campus (with the exception of the Law and Dental libraries). This eight minute tutorial focuses on the basics of using HOMER. There are two versions available - one with an audio track, and one without it. To view this tutorial, you must have the Flash Player installed on your computer. DOWNLOAD Flash Player.

    This tutorial will demonstrate:
  • How to find books in the USC Libraries by doing author, title and keyword searches
  • How to find journals in the USC Libraries by doing a periodical search
  • The basic structure of the records in HOMER
  • How to print, save or email item records

Writing 140 students: As assigned, please download the Homer exercise to complete after viewing the tutorial. Please bring the completed exercise with you to the library session scheduled for your class.
