About

Mission
We collect, make available, and preserve primary source and rare materials in Special Collections’s main areas of strength: Los Angeles regional history; American literature; Lion Feuchtwanger and the German émigré experience; natural history; and USC history and the university’s intellectual life. Our quarters provide an area where students, faculty, and their classes may pursue intellectual exchange and quiet discovery of the library’s rare and other non-circulating materials. In addition, we promote the educational use of our collections through exhibits and programs. Also encompassed within Special Collections, the Boeckmann Center collects research materials and provides reference assistance to support the academic needs of USC students and faculty in the areas of Iberian, Latin American (with strengths in Mexico, Central America, and Cuba), and U.S. Hispanics studies.
