Use Fees

Policy
We are eager to assist library users with their research projects by providing photocopies of materials for personal use following these guidelines:

• Permission to photocopy is handled on a case-by-case basis depending on the condition of the material and any existing copyright issues. If we believe that the material is too fragile or might be damaged by photocopying, the request will be denied.
• Photocopy orders are initiated by the patron completing a Photocopy Request Form
• Specialized Libraries staff will handle all photocopying
• Photocopy requests are filled as time and staffing permit. If we are unable to copy your material during your visit, we will mail the photocopies to you or you can pick them up.
• Due to copyright restrictions, no more than 10% of published material (published during or after 1923) is permissible.
• Copying and/or digitization of manuscript material may or may not be permitted, to be determined on a case-by-case basis by the librarian. Additional restrictions may apply to some collections, depending on copyright law and donor agreements.
• Limit: 100 copies per project.
• If you intend to publish or cite from material in Specialized Libraries, please complete the Permission to Publish Form. Supplying a photocopy is not an authorization to publish.
• Any questions about the photocopy policy should be referred to the Director of Special Collections

Reproduction Fees

• Photocopying: $0.25 per page
  Note: You must complete a Photocopy Request Form to order photocopies for books and archival material.
• Scanning (Limited to images 11” x 14” or smaller.)
  $25 per image (300 dpi)
  Note: All scanning will be handled by Special Collections staff.
• Photograph Duplication
  Black and White Prints: 8” x 10” $30
  Note: For additional sizes see “Price List for Reproduction Services”
• Other
  Slides $10 per slide
  VHS $20 per tape
  Audio Cassette $15 per tape
• Handling Fees
  Regular fee $4
  Rush / Special Handling $20

Use Fees

Images are not to be used in any manner without the expressed written permission from USC. All images are licensed under the terms and conditions as specified in the License Agreement.

Subject to one time use only. Any subsequent or different uses must be applied for and are subject to additional use fees.

Fees charged are based on the type of production.
