Collaborative Workroom Reservation Policies and Procedures

  1. RESERVATIONS HAVE PRIORITY. If you are using a room and do not have a valid reservation, you must leave when asked by a group that has a valid reservation. To make a reservation, print your name or the name of a group member on the reservation sheet for each time slot you wish to reserve. Sign each slot. Reservation sheets are available 6 days in advance.
  2. On any calendar day, you may reserve only ONE HOUR PER NAME and may make reservations in ONE ROOM ONLY. If you attempt to exceed these limits, all your reservations for that day will be invalid, and your time slots will be available to other groups. If you sign for other members of your group, be sure that they do not also reserve other times the same day. These limits still allow a group of six, for example, to reserve a room for up to six hours.
  3. There is a TEN MINUTE GRACE PERIOD. If you or the second person in your group arrives more than ten minutes after the start of your reserved time, then your reservation is invalid, and another group may make a new reservation. The clock behind the consultation desks will be used to settle any disputes over time. If you leave a room unoccupied after the grace period has expired, another group may take the room by making a new reservation. Any belongings left in an unoccupied room will be turned in to the lost and found.
  4. Priority use is given to GROUPS OF TWO or more. If you are alone in a room and the grace period has expired, another group of two or more may take the room.
  5. When occupying a room, DISPLAY YOUR USC ID in the holder inside the window facing outward. the name of the ID must match the name on the reservation sheet. If the group occupying a room is unable to confirm their reservation by displaying a matching ID, then another group may take the room by making a new reservation.
  6. Make all reservations in ink, and do not white out or erase any reservation. To cancel a reservation, cross it out using a single line, and make an entry in the spaces provided for this purpose at the bottom of the page. Be sure to sign your name and include a reason, for example, "Group not present @ 1:42", or "Booked in both 3M and 3J", or "Voluntary Cancellation."
  7. Please refer any disputes to the Librarian or Student Navigation Assistant at the Research Consultation Desk.

You must make reservations in person; reservations are not taken over the phone.
