Spaces
The Technical Reports, from USC as well as from various governmental agencies (with an emphasis on NASA reports), are shelved immediately outside the elevator on the second floor.
Wired laptop carrels are now available on the second and third floors, behind the elevator.
There is one group study room in the library, in the southeast corner of the second floor. A large white board was added December 1, 2006.
Prototype Collaborative Technology Space -- first floor lobby
The primary goal of the Collaborative Technology Space is to provide a shared monitor for separate laptop workstations. Users may switch back and forth between the large screen and their own, as well as merging together files and data from their individual laptops to the project on the large screen.
The advantage is that the group of users can actively observe and interact with the project, eliminating the need for tedious file transfers back and forth between only two machines at a time. Users can all see the project come together at once.
The program is nonintrusive to individual machines. Users each may work on their own separate projects simultaneously, or even gather information off of the Web for use in the project.
